Our History: How did Sewphisticated Handcrafts originate?
Sewing is my passion. With my mother’s wonderful guidance, I
made my first doll at the age of six. When I was ten, my mom’s
best friend Marcella guided me through a surprise dress for my mom
for Christmas. I always wondered why that dress fit so perfectly.
With these two sewing experiences and many more in between, my love
of selecting
fabric and creating a finished product developed.
From 1985 to 1997, sewing took a back seat while I operated a gift
and ice cream shop in Chocorua, NH. I loved every minute of running
my businesses. However, in the summer of 1997, I came to the realization
that something was missing from my life – it was the sewing.
With the arrival of fall, I went on a fabric buying trip, then
sat down at my sewing machine and started creating the products
that I
had been thinking about for many months. In January 1998, I shipped
my first order.
In 2002, I sold my gift and ice cream shop and put my full energy
into Sewphisticated Handcrafts. The beginning of 2003 brought the
development
of this website.
Sewphisticated Handcrafts extensive product line is carried by
